A COURSE CURRICULUM UPDATE MEETING WAS HELD BETWEEN THE CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE, EXTERNAL STAKEHOLDERS AND STUDENTS!

A meeting was held between our Sector Stakeholders, students and our Faculty Curriculum Development Committee on the agenda of course curriculum updates. In the meeting held in the 2023-2024-Spring Term, our Faculty Curriculum Development Committee Members and Department Representatives made presentations to our External Sector Stakeholders about our education and training structure.

Information about our Faculty and the department was conveyed to Director Kenan Arda Öztürk, one of the doyens of the cinema sector. The lesson plan of the Radio, Television and Cinema Department was introduced by the Curriculum Development Committee. Information was conveyed about the theoretical and practical distributions of the lesson plans designed according to İLEDAK criteria. Director Kenan Arda Öztürk emphasized the importance of mandatory inclusion of applied film production courses in the lesson plan. Notes were taken by the Course Curriculum Development Committee in line with the criticisms and suggestions. In line with the criticisms and suggestions of our Sector Stakeholders, department student representatives also expressed similar demands.

After the presentations and introductions, Sector Representative Producer Director Kenan Arda Öztürk and Radio, Television and Cinema Department student representatives who attended the meeting touched upon important issues that shed light on curriculum development studies that are suitable for the current dynamics of today's Cinema Sector. The importance of our students conducting field work, especially in applied project courses, during the preparation phase for the communication sector was emphasized.
Within the framework of the main agenda item of course updates, new course suggestions created around topics that will provide countless benefits for today's and future communication sectors were discussed. In the meeting, with the important suggestions of Sector Stakeholders and our Students and in line with the academic experiences of our Curriculum Development Committee, it was agreed that elective courses such as Short Film Production, Film Production and Management, which stand out in terms of profession, should be included in the course plan as compulsory curriculum courses.

Successful student productions from our Faculty's Youtube channel were presented to the taste of our Sector veteran Director Kenan Arda Öztürk. Finally, useful activities that can be carried out within the framework of our Sector-focused education and training vision were discussed. The meeting ended after sharing academic and sectoral experiences in the fields of Cinema, New Media and Design.
