Orientation Training Held for the Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema

The Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema (RTS) within the Faculty of Communication at Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University (BAİBÜ) organized a comprehensive orientation program for first-year students entering the new academic year on October 2, 2025. The program, held in the faculty conference hall, aimed to help students adapt to academic processes and familiarize themselves with the department's vision and educational structure.

Speaking at the opening of the program, Dean of the Faculty of Communication Prof. Dr. Emre Tandırlı highlighted the turbulent atmosphere of war in today's world and offered a universal message to prospective communication professionals. He emphasized that students should prioritize being "good people," emphasizing the importance of being conscientious individuals with a high sense of social responsibility. He noted that students within the faculty have begun winning awards in prestigious platforms such as the TRT Future Communicators Competition for projects prepared under the guidance of their advisors, and stated that this is a testament to the faculty's academic success.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülşah Sarı welcomed the students and provided information about the course structure and the faculty's academic system. RTS Department Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. Derya Çetin emphasized the department's strong academic structure, which integrates theory and practice, stating that students will be prepared for the industry in the coming years.

Department faculty members Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atacan Şimşek and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yunus Emre Ökmen provided detailed information about the courses they teach and answered students' questions about course content and practical areas. As part of the program, Dr. Vacit Ertan Yılmaz highlighted a particularly current issue, addressing the media portrayal of the tragedy in Gaza and offering an important assessment of media ethics.

A presentation prepared by the Research Assistant detailed the department's academic structure, course content, practical areas, and opportunities offered to students. Faculty Secretary Hayrettin Karataş emphasized the importance of education and training regulations, reminding them that all processes are conducted within the framework of these regulations. Student representative Sıla Erdoğan provided practical information about the university information management system (UBYS), demonstrating frequently encountered procedures through sample applications. This provided a direct introduction to the administrative and technical processes students will encounter in their first steps of education.
The program continued with a question-and-answer session. Students posed questions to faculty members on academic procedures, course content, and campus life. The orientation session concluded with a group photo where participants gathered.

This comprehensive orientation program provided RTS Department students with the opportunity to familiarize themselves with academic and administrative procedures, allowing them to take their first steps into the faculty with awareness and motivation.
