The short film "Re-greening," prepared by Enes Akfidan, a 3rd-year student in the Radio, Television, and Cinema Department, was awarded second prize in the Green Homeland Short Film Competition organized by the General Directorate of Forestry (OGM) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Foundation for Supporting Forestry Development and Forest Fire Fighting Services (OGEM-VAK).
The award ceremony, hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, was attended by the Deputy Minister of National Education Nazif Yılmaz, Deputy Ministers of Agriculture and Forestry Abdülkadir Polat and Ebubekir Gizligider, the General Director of Cinema of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Birol Güven, and the General Director of OGM Bekir Karacabey. The ceremony, which began with concerts and folk dance performances, continued with the presentation of awards after the protocol speeches.
The competition received 584 short film submissions from various provinces of Turkey, and 31 films qualified for the finals after jury evaluations. 16 of the finalists were student films, and 15 were professional productions. In the competition; The aim was to address topics such as forest conservation, combating forest fires, sustainability of natural life, climate change, reforestation, agriculture and animal husbandry, water resources, and environmental awareness from an artistic perspective.
In this context, our student Enes Akfidan's film "Re-greening" was deemed worthy of an award by the jury for its sensitive and aesthetic approach to the concept of Green Homeland.
We congratulate our student and all his academic advisors who contributed to this achievement, and we are proud to emphasize once again that this significant success reflects the creative production power of our faculty and the social responsibility awareness of our students.
